...that I will wake up one day and find that collectors have done to the E90 M3 what they've done to the 70s 911 Carrera. It will pass the auction block at $500k and go beyond the point of no return for cars I could possibly drive someday. :(

won't happen, never fear. If there's one thing for certain, it's that the E90 will depreciate like every other car for about 30 years and then it'll rise and fall like every other classic

You have literally just posted my greatest fear word for word. This was my IMMEDIATE thought after seeing the post on the FP. Same with the e46 M3. :'(

they aren't even done falling, so don't worry.

A 96k E92 M3 sat on CL for $26k and didn't sell for almost 3 months.. and it was a clean car (DCT, AW over red leather, CF roof)

Agree 100%, someday I too will own one***

***assuming I cannot get a brand freaking new M3 for less money like it is with almost every air cooled 911

I share that fear, but for LS7 Vette's. It's stopping me from selling/trading mine for the new one. I can picture mine rolling across Barrett-Jackson now. I'll be watching from my self driving car, crying into my cup of extremely nutritious Soylent goo as someone else sells it for a small fortune.

don't sweat it. there were about 6000 of them sold over the course of production. there will need to be a LOT of them destroyed to get the rarity to the level necessary for ridiculous inflation.

there were only 690 S54 M Coupes produced and while prices 13 years after the end of production are high, it's not ridiculous. with 8x as many cars on the road, the e90 M3 should be safe for a long time.

Having owned one for a year...you should buy one as soon as possible.

Although I think the real collectors cars will be the ones with ZERO tech or options. A slicktop, 6-spd manual, no-NAV, no-EDC, no-Mdrive, with Speed Cloth manual seats will certainly command a premium. After my current E90, I'm looking for a car that fits that description.

I wish they'd hurry up and do it already - then I could sell mine and buy a BMW race car and a garage queen 911, like god intended. Now that it's winter and I no longer need a d0-everything car (I got a truck), the E90 has just been sitting around. Can't remember the last time I drove it. Early December? Gahh... I'm one of those people now.

Not cool, dude. Baby needs some love. I've already got an afternoon drive planned with some friends for next Friday.

You've got some time, and I highly doubt they ever fetch prices that high. Nice ones will probably settle in the $30k range at some point (look at E46 prices).

It was 8 degrees when I left work work this morning. Eight. And the high - though it will be sunny! - on Saturday is 21. Sports cars just don't love that crap. What I need is a freak 50 degree day and a clear schedule... Trust me, it's not as if I don't miss it!

Yeah, the day we have it planned it should be mid-40s for a high.

You and your mild-wintered southernness. You'll probably have some damn good barbecue while you're at it, you rascal you.

The low was single digits last night with wind chills in the negatives, so it's not all tank tops and flip flops.

Barbecue sounds really good right now, though...
